Frequently Asked Questions

General

Are your performers insured?

Yes all acrobats have public liability and are insured to £10,000,000.

Do you provide music for the act and ambient sets?

We always bring music for the mainstage act on CD. If you would like us to bring music for the ambient sets, please request this.

We have 45 minutes of Meet n Greet to fill. Can they perform for this entire time?

Due to the physical nature of acrobatics, it is very difficult to fill longer than 15- 20 minutes. We suggest you have a break in the performance before he/she goes out again or book more than 1 performer so that your entire reception time is filled.

How many times can acrobats perform at our event?

Usually up to 3 times. This can be a combination of the mainstage act and ambient sets if that’s what you’re after.

Crystalline

Do you bring the revolving podium with you on international flights?

No, the podium is too heavy for flying. We bring a static podium instead which packs down for transporting.

For more information please speak to one of our staff & request a technical specifications document.

How much is your total baggage for international flights?

Crystalline solo – 35kgs. Total excess depends on airline allowance.
Crystalline trio – 40 kgs – no excess due to spreading out amongst all 3 girls’ baggage.

Can we get rid of the podium straight away after the show?

Yes if you provide 2 strong stage-hands to carry the podium out of the area. The podium is 1.5 meters in diameter. Please allow for this space in your exit route.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually 45 minutes which includes setting up the revolving podium & a rehearsal with lighting and sound manager present.

What kind of floor surface can the ballet dancers perform on?

Usual indoor surfaces are all ok. Hard surfaces are usually better than carpet although carpet is still manageable.

Can you perform this outside?

The solo handstand artist can but the surface must be completely level and dry. Also it must be sheltered from the wind due to the nature of the fabric wings. The ballerinas cannot perform outside due to grass and concrete not being ideal for ballet pointes.

How much stage space do you need?

For the solo act: 3m X 3m X 3m height.
For the trio act: 5m width X 4m depth X 3.5m height.

Do you need power for the podium?

Yes, a 13 amp socket close to stage area. Please request technical specifications.

Freestyle Acrobats

Can we have freestyle acrobats at the start of our event and then have an act by the same performers later in the evening?

Yes, all of our mainstage acrobats can perform freestyle acrobatics.

Can acrobats perform outside?

Yes, please let us know in advance so that we bring appropriate footwear.

Do they bring their own stage?

Yes, we can provide a static podium/handstand table on request.

In The Balance

Can you perform this outside?

Yes if the surface is dry. Grass is not ideal but manageable. Please let us know what surface you have on booking.

How much space do they need?

3m X 3m X 3.7m height without podium.
3m X 3m X 4m height with podium.

Do the performers bring their own stage/podium?

Yes, a static podium on request. Static podium is 1.5 meters diameter and 33cm tall.

Light My Fire

Do you have an alternative to fire as our venue won’t allow fire indoors?

Yes, we can provide UV staffs that create a great glow show as a stunning alternative. Enquire for more information.

What fuel do you use?

Paraffin.

Does it get smokey inside?

Yes it can do, this is the nature of fire. Smaller rooms will notice the smoke more.

Can you perform inside?

Yes as long as you meet the stage requirements and have the venue’s permission.

How much space do you need?

Minimum: 6m wide X 4m depth X 5m height

Revolve

Can you fly your revolving podium overseas?

No, the motor is too heavy to be transported via plane. We can provide a static podium as a replacement however.

Can we get rid of the podium straight after the performance?

Yes if you provide 2 strong stage-hands to carry the podium out of the area. The podium is 1.5 meters in diameter. Please allow for this space in your exit route or ensure the stage hands are quite strong to turn the podium on it’s side to transport out of the performance area.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually 45 minutes which includes setting up the podium & a rehearsal with lighting and sound manager present.

Can you move the podium once it’s set up to a holding area and then move it into place for the performance?

If 2 strong stage-hands are available to move this prior to performance then yes it’s possible. The leads must be connected to power once moved into place. The best option is to have it set up in place and ready to go for the performance however.

Do you need power for the podium?

Yes a 13amp socket close to performance area is requested.

How much space do you need?

3m X 3m X 4m height.

Do you bring your own podium?

Yes, it’s a revolving podium that’s 1.5 meters diameter and 25cm tall.

The Giant Snowglobe

How much is your excess baggage?

This depends on the length of the contract and the baggage allowance of your airline.

For shorter contracts – 5 days or less, the total baggage is 108kgs not including the cover/curtain. We can reduce this if the client supplies the podium that we perform on inside the snowglobe. Total baggage can be reduced to 2 X 30kg bags I.E 60kgs.

We have a document of different airlines excess baggage charges so you can work out how much excess is. Please request this document.

We have technical specifications, details of baggage, podium details, airline excess charges, Risk Assessments etc on request. Please call for more information.

How do you fly the globe?

Everything packs down into 4 bags. 5 including the cover. (The cover is optional)

Do you perform in the daytime?

Yes we do for family-day events. Please note that the lights don’t project as well as in the night time but the glitter still looks very effective.

Do you perform in the rain?

We are able to perform in light drizzle. Heavier rain is not possible. We are unable to set up in the rain due to the electrics getting wet during the set up.

Do you use the cover outdoors?

No, the curtain is only for indoor venues.

Do you perform outdoors?

Yes, we request additional performance space as we use 6 guy ropes to secure the globe in outdoor settings.

Do you need power and how much power does it draw?

Yes we need power. It draws 3 amps. 13 amp socket requested close to stage area.

How long can the snowglobe stay up in one sitting?

We recommend no longer than 8 hours.

How much time does it take to strike?

We have a very quick get out. If 2 stage hands assist this process we can pack down and transport it out of the performance area within 3 minutes. This is dependent however on how far away the exit is!

How much height do you need?

We have 2 snowglobes. One is 3m90, the other is 4m10. Please request the smaller snowglobe if you are restricted with height.

What is the footprint of the snowglobe?

The base is 2.7meters diameter but we request slightly more space than this eg: 4meters, especially when the cover is being used.

What lighting should we provide?

We supply certain lighting inside the globe but advise exterior lighting also. Blues or pinks/ reds work very well. White light is not advisable.

If we choose not to have the cover at our event, is the glitter on continuously when the performers are not in the globe?

No, the glitter only runs when the performers are inside the globe.

What is the cover? And how does this work?

We have a tasteful red curtain/cover that conceals the globe when not in use, before and after shows. It also conceals the performers getting in and out of the globe. We request 2 stage hands to take this off and put it back on after a performance. We teach these assistants how to do this in the technical rehearsal. Please watch the end of our video showreel to view how this is done.

Can we inflate it during set up and then have it deflated until we need you to perform?

Yes. Once it’s all inflated and ready to go, we can deflate until the performance time. It then takes approximately 3 minutes for the globe to inflate. The snowglobe looks quite tasteful and intriguing when inflated and concealed by the red cover however. Please consider this option of the fully inflated and covered globe first as this is the best alternative.

Can we move the snowglobe once it’s inflated?

Yes but we prefer not to move it too far due to there being a lot of equipment inside the globe. It may only be moved on the same level. It cannot be moved up or down stairs once set up.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually one hour but we request 2 hours to liaise with client, lighting technician, stage hands, rehearse and allow for power to be supplied etc.

Aerial Acts

Do you do flying trapeze?

Some of our artists can perform flying trapeze but we do not sell this act.

What if we don’t have any structural points. Do you supply rigs?

Tumbellina International work alongside reputable UK companies that supply rigs for outdoor events and venues that do not have structural rigging points. Please get in touch for more information.

Do you do aerial rope & static trapeze?

Yes please get in touch to discuss your options.

Can one aerialist perform both hoop and silks at the one event?

Yes, please get in touch to discuss.

Do the girls always start at the bottom of the silks?

Yes unless there is a platform very close to the rigging points above. Aerialists can also climb the silks and start from high but cannot hold this for over 2 minutes prior to the start of the music.

How do the girls climb up to the hoops?

We supply silks that attach to the bottom of the hoops and then release them. The silks need to be passed up at the end of the routine for their descent.

How long is the act?

Acts range from 4 minutes 30 to 5 minutes 40.

Do the girls put up their own equipment?

The aerialists can rig their own equipment when easy access to the rigging points is supplied at the venue. Easy access can be a ladder, cherry picker with driver or winching system. If easy access is not available then a rigger must be booked. Tumbellina can supply riggers on request.

What height do you need?

5 meters minimum for silks. 4 meters minimum for hoop.

What do the girls hang off?

Structural points that have been weight tested to 1 tonne each.

How much stage space do you require?

Olympia – 5 person act: 6m width X 4m depth X 4m height.
The Medallists – 3 person act: 5m width X 3m depth X 4 height.
